Some Good New Recipes

I love to cook! I try to make homemade meals as much as I can, but sometimes the day just gets away from us. I wanted to find some good slow cooker meals and recently made two really good ones that I would like to share.

Slow Cooker Sausage, Bean and Pasta Stew
Slow Cooker Sausage, Bean and Pasta Stew

This we really enjoyed. I used regular elbow macaroni, added some quartered mushrooms, and took out the Parmesan rind. It was very good and easy to prepare and get ready. Something we would completely make again.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

This recipe I made on St. Patrick's Day. It sat in the crock pot all day and was very moist and tender by the time we ate it. I was not sure how I would like this recipe, but it was great on some bakery rolls. Justin really enjoyed it as well. I will make this again for sure.

6 Month Update

Well technically Averie is closer to 7 months than 6 months as I write this, but I wanted to write down some things that are going on in our world.

At her 6 month check up these were her stats:
Stats: 25.25 inches, 15.1 lbs, 16.54 inch head circumference

At that time the doctor told us we could start her on solids. So far this is what we have tried:
Sweet Potatoes, Avocados, Bananas, Mangoes, Peas, & Pears - Rice Cereal and Oatmeal

Averie is not so fond of the cereal, but she loves all food so far! I have been making all of her food so far because it really is pretty easy.I ordered The Best Homemade Baby Food on the Planet and the Mumi and Bubi solids starter kit and it has been working great. I already have a good supply in the freezer. Honestly, when you compare the price of baby food to some of the things you can buy to make baby food, it is almost a no brainer. A bag of frozen peas for $1 that will last probably 5-6 feedings compared to $1 for baby food that will last 1 possibly 2 days.

Averie loves books. Toes, Ears, & Nose is her favorite book right now. It is a lift-the-flap book and at the end we play peek-a-boo with the last picture. It makes her laugh all the time. We have done it so much that she is waiting for it when we get to that page and smiles.

Since she was about 5 months, Averie has been pulling her arms out of her shirt and tucking her head when we undress her. It was so funny all of a sudden one day I was taking off her onesie and she tucked her head to take the onesie off over her head. I thought this was the neatest thing ever. She just got used to us taking her clothes of the same way all the time that she knew exactly what to do. We smile every day she does this because it is so cute to watch. Makes us feel like proud parents that she is learning and catching on to things.

Well this little girl is absolutely the love of our life and we could not be happier. Who knew something so tiny could capture so much of our love.

My babies!

Haven't been on here in a while. Here is a fun photo! Baby love and pug love!
